Kalff Katz & Franssen contribute to ICLG: Gambling 2020

Posted on 6 January 2020 by Erik van Hoorn

On 22 November 2019, the Global Legal Group published its International Comparative Legal Guide (ICLG) to: Gambling 2020. The sixth edition provides practical cross-border insight into gambling law and features contributions from across many jurisdictions, including Kalff Katz & Franssen setting out the current state of play in the Netherlands.

The chapter on the Netherlands, written by Dr Alan Littler and Erik van Hoorn, was first published in this latest edition of the ICLG and covers various points of importance for those with an interest in the Netherlands, such as which licences are currently available for offering games of chance and the enforcement policy of the Gambling Authority to combat the illegal offer of (remote) games of chance.

Furthermore, attention is devoted to the Remote Gambling Act (Wet Kansspelen op afstand), which will amend the Betting and Gaming Act (Wet op de kansspelen 1964), so as to introduce a regulatory framework for regulating and licensing remote gambling.

The Netherlands: Gambling 2020 chapter can be read online here.

If you have any question regarding the above or wish to receive further information on the upcoming licence application procedure for remote games of chance, please feel free to contact us.
